I grew up the youngest of 5 kids and was raised by my amazing mom. I had always been very athletic and always on the go. I was not one to just sit around and wait for the action to come to me. I started working when I was 12, and up until I had my first child at age 34 (he's now 19 years old), I had always had a job. I then became a stay-at-home mom and absolutely LOVED it!! I then had my 2nd child 5 years later and was so in love with the two of them. They were and still are my life! Unfortunately, my marriage wasn't so loving. After being with my now ex for 28 years, our marriage was failing. I soon became a single income, full-time mom of a 10 & 5 year old and was back to working a full-time 8-5 job. Not only did I lose my marriage, but I also lost my mom who was my best friend, to ovarian cancer. We did the testing that shows if it is hereditary, and fortunately it was not. Looking back, my mom wasn't very health conscious and was overweight, so I'm guessing her diet and lack of exercise had a large part in her inviting the cancer into her body.
At the time of my mom's passing, I was in my early 40's. I had been gaining unexplained weight, my memory was getting foggy, I was tired all the time, I wasn't sleeping but a couple hours a night, I was so stressed out. I felt like I was falling apart. I had always been strong, happy go lucky, had a smile on my face and took things with a grain of salt, but now things were wearing me down and I just didn't understand why? I had always been able to handle anything and everything without it stressing me out or taking a toll on my body. Then it hit me. Shit, I'm suffering from MENOPAUSE!!
Fast forward, with seeing my moms health decline over the years, and since I was also going through so many changes as well as recalled my sisters going through similar changes when they were in their 40's, I decided to enroll in a nutrition school. I thought, there has got to be answers out there that can help myself and other women who are suffering from all of these menopausal symptoms and especially the unexplained weight and bloat that was making me so miserably uncomfortable.
Taking my education, investing in a health coach of my own, along with some trial and error, I was able to lose the 15lbs that I had gained, and man what a game changer it was. I felt so much better, my mood improved, I was now sleeping through the night and I had so much more energy. All from learning the right foods to eat and what the proper exercise regime was for my age. It actually was quite simple. No dieting, no long bouts on the treadmill, no fasting for long hours, no starving or depriving myself. Simple, yet effective steps was all it took. I've never looked back since. I took all of my learnings and created my Fit After 40+! 12-Week Weight Loss Program. I want to help women all over the country to look and feel their best. Age is just a number. It's what you do with it that matters. Midlife can be a struggle, but weight loss doesn't have to be.
